Helsinki, Finland

These photos were taken next to a colorful mural inside a wonderful art museum in Helsinki!

At the beginning of my trip to Europe, I wore a hole right through the bottom of my trusty cowboy boots, which were supposed to be my walking shoes. So I busted out my problem-solving skills and found some suede, sale-rack Eccos in London. I'm wearing them in most of my photos from the trip.

Harem

I've been a lover of harem pants for quite some time now. However, the harem pant selection in Nashville is nonexistent. So, when I saw a rack full of one-size-fits-all harem trousers in Copenhagen, I squealed with delight and promptly purchased two pairs-- one in a peachy pink and one in a blue paisley print.

Like seriously... these are the drapiest pants I've ever seen in my life.

Look at how they billow in the wind!

This adorable little notebook is from a design store in Stockholm. I've nearly half filled it up with ideas and doodles and lists, and I bought it a week ago! I suppose it's pent up creative energy.

Mr. Roy G. Biv

Sooooo... I have a new addition to my shoe collection. Yes, they're Jeffrey Campbell "Salvatore" platforms... the coolest shoe in the universe... the shoe that literally goes with every color in the rainbow... the shoe I've been obsessing over my entire teenage life... I may sound dramatic, but really... they are Jeffrey Campbell "Salvatore" platforms (!). I think I'm allowed to be a bit dramatic. They were a sixteenth birthday present from my parents. Get used to these beauties, because you'll be seeing a lot of them.
Alright! Enough of my petty and possibly materialistic shoe obsession! Let's talk about some real fashion.
I just returned from a month-long summer art program, and I feel so reenergized fashion-wise. I'm super inspired, and I care even less about coordinating patterns (if that's possible). Fashion is more fun for me when I go by my first instinct of what looks good together. New experiences, especially trips to new places, cause me to rethink my fashion decisions... what makes things look "good" together?... why should I follow any fashion "rules"? So basically, I'm going to wear whatever I feel like wearing. It doesn't matter if it breaks the "rules" of fashion or doesn't "go together" or whatever. Life is too short to not carry a fish purse. Life is to short to not wear rainbow platforms. Life is too short to be boring.

I can't imagine becoming bored with red.

I found this blue flowered hat at a lovely vintage store in Greensboro, NC in early June. It has instant glamour. It goes with pretty much everything in my wardrobe.
