Bows.

I bought these shoes a few years ago at a designer resale shop in San Francisco. I absolutely fell head-over-heels (no pun intended) for the floppy bows and gold metallic fabric, however, they had a terribly unflattering ankle strap. A few months ago, on a do-it-yourself whim, I grabbed a pair of scissors and chopped off the strap. Now, I have a wonderfully fancy pair of flattering flats.
